These are brand new OEM Mexico VW brake star adjusting nuts that are
ready to be used on your air-cooled VW Beetle or any air-cooled VW with drum brakes.
Some of them will not be black but Brass
This is the star nut which fits inside the brake backing plate that- with the adjusting screw- allows you to properly adjust the brake shoes. Fits all years and models- front and rear with drum brakes.

Coat the contact surfaces with anti-seize. You need 2 of these per wheel. Note these are NOT used on disc brakes, only drum brakes.
