NOTE : Several factors may be taken in consideration to optimize the performance of the ignition
system on your
Porsche regarding the spark plug
gapping , today's fuel octane and density
specs with addition of Alcohol
is one of them ,in general the gaps can be adjusted between
.024" to .030",
if you have a aftermarket ignition
system installed such as MSD you may
increase the gap in order to obtain a larger spark.
- A few technical notes :
REV-LIMITING ROTOR:
The early Porsches  911 utilizing a mechanical device incorporated
on the distributor rotor which function as a rev limiter , the
calibrated   sliding
device
installed on the center top section of the rotor is held in position by a spring action , as the
RPM increases the device slides
by a centrifugal force , as the engine reaches the rev limit
RPM the device touches  a metal tab on the rotor and  grounds the system causes the ignition
to misfire , the 911T models the device is calibrated at 6500 RPM  as included on the tune
up kit, other models such as 911E . 911S and early models
with conventional ignition system
( non CDI) have different calibration set ups, we also carry kits for other applications.
CIS Injection:
The Bosch K-Jetronic CIS (Constant Injection System) was introduced in  1973 on late
911T models and equipped Porsche 911 models up to 1983,early 73 models utilize the Bosch
Fuel Injection MFI(Mechanical Fuel Injection )distinctly recognizable by the centered located
mechanical  fuel injection pump similar to Mercedes Pagodas , please verify your application.
