Chip is the most popular and widely used chip hands down for the 7.3L Ford Powerstroke Engine. This chip has been out for the 7.3L Powerstroke Engine for well over 15 years. INSTALLATION TIPS:
·
Please make sure to follow all installation instructions. There are plenty of how-to-videos available online.
Proper Battery disconnection process:
·
When disconnecting the batteries, disconnect
both
positive and negative from both batteries.
After both batteries have been disconnected, touch opposing positive and negative cables together to
DISCHARGE
the remaining electricity within the system; not to worry, the voltage is low enough, this won’t be dangerous if you followed our instructions
Alternatively
, you can simply disconnect both batteries, then cycle the key in the ignition (attempting to start it 2-3 times) and on one of the cycles, leave key in the “ON” position, then attempt to turn on the radio and run the air. This procedure is considered the safest method to discharge the remaining electrical charge in the system.
FAILURE to discharge the remaining electrical charge in the system may result in frying your PCM Box
J-Port aka PCM Port cleaning process:
·
Gently
scrape bulk of protective coating from
BOTH
sides of the J-Port (where TS Chip will install on PCM) using a flat tip screwdriver (do
NOT
use a knife)
·
Take the included abrasive pad and wrap around tip of a flat tip screwdriver
·
With the abrasive pad wrapped around the screwdriver, scrub vigorously for 3-5 seconds and inspect, repeat this step until copper has been exposed on all “fingers”
Mini tip: Use a flashlight to aid in the inspection process
·
Note: For those “stubborn fingers”, try to focus on those areas once bulk of “fingers” have copper exposed
·
If the “fingers” do not have copper exposed on at least the last ¼ inch of each “finger” on BOTH sides, you will run into no start issues, intermittent vehicle operation, etc…
