Description
A REFERENCE GUIDE TO MINIATURE MAKERS MARKS, by Lee S. Frank and Alice Hanaw Frank.Self Published, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1996.
An identification guide to the makers of miniature furniture, houses, clocks, rugs, accessories, etc. Anything tiny that makes a tiny home lovely.
From the Introduction: "When we began to inventory our miniature collection a few years ago, we realized one of the most important parts of that record was to know who made the miniature pieces we purchased. We decided to write a booklet that would benefit all of those who had a love for miniatures. As we began our research, the list of artisan names mushroomed until our original concept became a full scale book...Our ultimate goal is to produce a reference guide that is as comprehensive as possible for posterity. It is our intent that this reference guide book not only add value to miniatures, but aid in recognizing a popular hobby as the art form it so richly deserves."
The Miniature Makers are arranged alphabetically, with each artisan presented under the following headings: Name (i.e. Artisan), Business Name, Identification Marks (i.e. what the artisan's identifying marks are and where to find them), Category (i.e. what they make), Honors, Recognition, Biography.
Hardcovers, dark blue cloth covered boards, gilt titling on the front cover and spine, 8.5x11 inches, 543 pages.
NEAR FINE condition, a touch of shelf rubbing, otherwise tight, bright, clean, clear and unmarked. A solid, nice, very presentable copy.
An essential reference for anyone who loves miniatures.
