    Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th Century Ancestrial Patriarch + Matriarch Portraits. A Chinese tradition was to have was to have the head of the family have a painted portrait along with his wife. The patriarch portrait is signed.
    These two portraits were purchased from the art dealer, Yamanaka & Co. in New York in the mid 1930’s. Yamanaka & Co. was a world renowned art dealer company that specializes in rare Japanese art.
