    , as shown, removed from a hard case set. Proof sets are also known as Double-Dollar sets, or Prestige sets. Such Royal Canadian Mint sets are issued between layers of plastic in a special frame and mounted into a leather book style format, so that the cover may be opened to see the front of the coins and the center piece can be turned over to see the backs of the coins.
    Note that the coins from 1971 to 1980 are technically of
    specimen quality
    yet the whole series is generally known as the Proof Set Series even though the coin sets were not actually entirely proof until 1981.
