Antique Qing Dynasty Chinese Official's HIGH BACK YOKE ARM CHAIR w/ Carved Splat

Up for auction at the Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio is an
Antique Chinese High Back Official’s Arm Chair with a carved medallion on the back splat, protruding “yoke” crest rail, and bubugao “step higher” stretchers
. This key attribute to the official’s chair, stepped up stretchers with one higher than the other, shows the superior status of the seated person. Chinese terms for the chair include
official’s hat chair
and
lamp-hanging chair,
later Westernized to
yoke chair.
Qing Dynasty. Fine collector’s piece. Circa: 1900.
