    Description

    This Authentic Antique Chinese Screen-Back Arm Chair is a master piece of Qing Dynasty furniture.
    This chair was called "Seat of Honor" and generally placed in the great hall facing south in high-ranking official's home to symbolize the presence of a man of high rank and talents. The chair is hand crafted with simple yet elegant "relief" carvings of Chinese design motif. The chair is handmade and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure,  which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. The workmanship for making this chair is extraordinary. The wood plank used for back splat and the arms of the chair is artistically bent for deep curve. Circa late of 18th century. Original wear and patina. Made from Zelkova wood, the chair is very solid and kept in excellent condition. (photos here show all sides of the chair)
