    Antique Chinese High Back Elm Armchair Arm Chair
    This is a beautiful arm chair is a great example of simple style.
    The back has a curved spat without any designs. The Top rail curves up into 4 peaks and is contained, meaning it does not protrude beyond the side rails. This style is often referred to Southern Official’s style arm chairs. Their are relief carved aprons inside the intersection of the top and side rails.
    The arms, along with the front goose neck posts and the side posts have graceful curved lines.
    The seat is an inset panel style with a rounded molded detail on the frame edge. There is also a molded design where the frame meets the flat seat panel.
    There is a fancy shaped relief carved apron under the front seat and down the legs. The front rounded legs have a carved bead detail down the inside edge. The sides have similar shaped aprons but without the carvings and each side has a straight stretcher. The back has a simpler apron and a straight stretcher.
    Under the front footrest is a simple apron.
    Much of the original tree lacquer finish has worn off, but this chair has a wonderful patina and is very sturdy.
    As noted below the seat height is 20″. We often have customers who want to use an antique Chinese table as a desk, but the height is usually several inched higher than typical desks. Using a chair like this, which is also several inched higher than a standard chair, with one of the Chinese tables makes a great combination. (be sure to check knee clearance first).
