    Description

Standard ground shipping will be through my choice of UPS or FedEx.
This is an old scroll that is hand painted with a Buddha that is holding something in each of six hands, sitting on a lotus flower that is on a vase or urn. Around the urn are six grotesque figures holding different weapons. Below them are a few symbols, and then horizontal writing. The scroll is made out of paper with a silk border. The paper section is 11 1/4

wide and 36.5” tall. The scroll was unrolled and framed in a 53” x 17 7/8” wood frame with gilt and black surfaces and a glass front. The back has the original label from Richard Tobey in Los Angeles, who made top quality frames. This would have been a custom job for this scroll.
WARNING! This frame includes a long piece of glass, which makes it very difficult to ship. As a result, I can

t guarantee that it won’t break during transit. I will ship with plenty of bubble wrap and additional cardboard for protection, but if the box falls and hits a metal corner of a machine, it could still crack.
The frame has some small chips here and there exposing the white gesso section underneath the black and gold. The scroll has a bunch of creases, mostly horizontal. There is one photo that shows the back of the frame alongside the front. The front photo is lit from above, which makes the creases easier to see. There are also some small sections of paper loss, mostly above Buddha.
