    Description

    Good form antique Chinese arm chair possibly made for an Imperial Concubine of medium to small physical stature constructed with beautifully grained wood to complement her appearance. Note ancient Chinese technique mortise and tenon joints. Unsure exact species of wood....maybe elm...maybe rose wood....maybe Huanghuali wood from Hainan Island.
    Expert opinion always welcome. 19th/20th century.
