19th Century Chinese Carved Gilt Lacquered Chair
A fine and unusual 19th Century carved, gilded and lacquered chair. The chair in persimmon lacquer with an arched back has a large open work carved and gilt panel with figures and trees with a pagoda in the distance. The carving a strongly rendered with robust depth. The solid side panels are carved and gilded on both sides with figural decoration. The aprons with floral openwork gilt carving. The seat is pictorial with a black ground painted with a coy. Condition is very good with age appropriate wear. Circa: 1880. Dimensions: Height 41.5", Depth 19", Width 23".
